Let's get moving more!

Are you moving your body regularly?  Can you move more?  This doesn’t have to be going to the gym or exercising more.  This can be taking the stairs instead of the elevator, taking your dog for a walk, meeting a friend and walking in the woods, trying a new yoga class or a new sport, like pickle ball!

We all know that it is important to get our bodies moving more and to avoid sitting too much but why exactly and what are the benefits of moving more?

One very important benefit is our mental health.  Exercising can reduce anxiety and depression by improving self-esteem.  Moving your body can help you sleep better and boost your overall mood, which plays a huge role in maintaining good mental health.

Regular movement or physical activity can also help your brain health, help manage your weight, reduce the risk of diseases and strengthen your bones and muscles.

How can you get more movement into your day?  Keep it simple!  Instead of making one trip upstairs with all the things, take two or three.  Rather than sitting down while chatting on the phone, get up and walk around.

If we can mindful when we are sitting, we may notice more opportunities where we can get up and move around!
