Nobody is Watching You

The biggest thing keeping people from starting a workout program isn't motivation. It's fear of being judged.

Here's the truth: nobody at the gym is watching you. Think about your own last workout. Were you studying the person next to you, judging their outfit or their form? Probably not. You were focused on your own reps, your own breathing. Everyone else is doing the same. If anything, seeing someone new show up is motivating for the regulars around you.

Don't stress about what you're wearing either. You don't need matching gear or new shoes, just something comfortable you can move in.

And don't assume everyone else knows what they're doing. Most people walking in for the first time have never set foot in a gym before. Not knowing how to adjust a bench or load a bar is normal, not a failing.

One more thing: there's a flood of fitness information out there, and not all of it applies to you. A program built for a young athlete isn't the program a beginner needs. Start where you are, not where the internet says you should be.
